A wave of small AI inbox apps

Thaw vs the life-admin inbox apps

People trying one of the 2026 crop of "forward it and we will remind you" apps: Life Inbox AI, Orlo, LifeAdminAI, Lifey, Docnizer, Ownly and others like them.

A dozen small apps launched in the last year on the same idea as Thaw's Inbox: forward or photograph a document, a model pulls out the dates and amounts, you get reminders. Several are good at that one thing and cheap. They stop at the reminder. A document is not linked to the people and things it concerns, nothing checks what should be on file, and a business has no place beside the household. Most are one person, one platform and a credit meter. Details are from their public pages as of September 2026 and describe the group; check the one you are considering.

Thawlife-admin apps
How documents get inConnected once to email, a scanner, a Google Drive or Dropbox folder, Gmail, and your phone; documents arrive on their own from then on. Forward or drop in anything yourself, and bring the pile you have through an Evernote, paperless-ngx or folder import.Photo or upload on every one; a personal forwarding address on most (Orlo, Life Inbox, LifeAdminAI); whole-inbox Gmail scanning on a couple.
What it understandsEvery document is worked out once: category, type, title, the facts on it, the people & things it concerns, every date. Anything uncertain is flagged for a look.Vendor, amount, due date, category and a summary, from a general-purpose model. Eight to eighteen fixed categories. No list of document kinds, no facts with roles.
Dates and deadlinesEvery renewal, expiry, due date and notice period becomes an item with what happens if missed and what to do, from the document itself. Resolved by the next document.Reminders at fixed offsets (30/14/3 days, or 6/4/2 weeks and 3 days) and a weekly digest. Orlo also tracks price changes year over year, which is a good idea.
People & thingsEvery document linked to the person, vehicle, property, pet or business it concerns, each with a page showing what is current, what is due and what is missing.Family profiles in one or two (Docnizer); otherwise a flat list of documents.
What is missingKnows what a person, vehicle, property, pet or business should have on file; lists what is missing, lapsed, expired or duplicated, worst first, with where to get it.None. A checklist app for life events in one case.
Household and businessA family and a business in one account, walled, with the CPA invited to one.Personal. Orlo offers separate workspaces for personal, family, business and rental documents.
SecurityA key per document, locked by a key per account, locked by a master key in a separate key service. Identifying numbers sealed, and blanked from the search index. A log that only grows. Deleting destroys the key.TLS and provider-managed storage; a few name the services behind them. No published key model, no audit log.
PriceFree for the first 100 documents sorted; Personal $79 a year, Family $119, Business $290. No per-document credits.Free tiers of 5 uploads or credits a month; paid from about $3 to $15 a month, most metered per document or per credit pack.
Getting outOriginals in a folder tree named the way Thaw names them, plus every fact as CSV and JSON, and a continuous mirror to your own Dropbox or Drive folder.Export on paid plans in some; not mentioned in others.
