What Thaw is
A service that receives, reads, files and organizes documents you choose to send it, and describes what those documents say. It is not legal, tax, medical or financial advice. Every deadline, amount or instruction it shows is "based on your document"; the document and the official source are the authority.
Reading and answers are produced by Thaw's AI, which runs on a large language model from Anthropic through its API. Your documents are not used to train models. The provider may change; this page will say so when it does.
You can connect an assistant of your own (Claude, ChatGPT or another app that speaks the same protocol) from Settings. What it does through Thaw is done as you: it asks you before changing anything, every change it makes is in your audit log, and what it asks for goes to its provider under that provider's terms. You can end the connection at any time.
Your documents
They are yours. You grant Thaw only the rights needed to store, read, index and display them to you and to people you invite. You can export or delete them at any time.
Your part
Send only documents you have the right to store. Keep your sign-in methods to yourself. Do not use Thaw to store or share material that is unlawful.
Fair use
Paid plans have no per-document credits and nothing to count. To keep the service sustainable, each has a fair-use ceiling per calendar month, set well above what a busy household uses: Personal, 250 documents read in full and 500 questions; Family, 400 and 800; Business, 1,500 and 1,500. Above the ceiling nothing stops: documents are still read in full and Ask keeps answering. At twice the ceiling we email you. The free plan includes ten questions after its first 14 days.
While Thaw is new
The service is under active development. Features change, sometimes daily. We aim for no data loss and no downtime that matters, and we cannot promise either yet.
Ending
You can stop at any time by exporting and deleting your account. We can end access for misuse, with notice and an export window except where the misuse makes that unreasonable.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Thaw is provided as is, and our liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited.
